PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine's bobcat hunting season is ending for the year this month.
The season began on Dec. 1 and ends Feb. 28.
The season has no bag or possession limit. State biologists say bobcats are common in Maine other than in northwestern sections of the state because of long winters and deep snow. They live everywhere from agricultural areas to deep in forests. State officials caution that they can be confused with lynx, a threatened species.
Special seasons for hunting squirrels via falconry and hunting snowshoe hare on Vinalhaven Island also end Feb. 28.
