CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — A deer that ran into a hospital in Concord was treated and released.

Actually, the deer was tranquilized and released after it ran in through an open door Thursday at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast.

Employees managed to herd the deer into a storage room where Cabarrus County animal control officers and Concord police tranquilized the deer and turn it over to a wildlife officer.

The wildlife officer released the deer in the wild late Thursday afternoon.

The deer apparently came out of woods and jumped over hedges and landed on the hood of a car in the parking lot. The animal then ran onto the loading dock and through a door into the hospital.

Officials said the deer never came close to any patients and employees thoroughly cleaned the storage area.
