MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — While Vermont's lottery for moose hunting permits has closed, there's still another chance to a get a prized permit.
The state auction for five moose hunting permits for this fall's hunt is open until Aug. 14 at 4:30 p.m.
A minimum bid of $1,500 is required.
The bids must be entered with a sealed bid form available from the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The bids do not include the cost of a hunting license, which is $22 for residents and $100 for hunters from out of state, or the moose hunting permit fee which is $100 for residents and $350 for nonresidents.
Proceeds from the auction help pay for Vermont Fish and Wildlife educational programs.
