Venison is one of the most nutrious organic meats available. It has virtually no fat, with three ounces having about 135 calories and just three grams of fat. Compare that to beef, which has about 15 grams of fat and about 250 calories. Venison has more protein, too. Another fantastic thing about it is we know where it came from when we hunt, kill, prepare and eat the deer, elk, pronghorn, moose or other big game we bring home.

Hollie Sanders from the Central Arkansas Nature Center uses a Dutch oven for her version of venison chili with cornbread deer dogs. Veteran hunter Trey Reid with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission gives it a big thumbs up after a taste test.
