Outdoor allie steak

The 1-minute Facebook video below from Outdoors Allie is fantastic cooking advice. Watch and learn!

Allie explains that one of the easiest ways to ruin a great cut of venison is by improperly thawing it out prior to cooking. You can’t rush the process. Venison is extremely lean, so it’s critical to do everything you can to retain moisture in the meat.

The next time you wish to cook a venison steak, regardless of whether it’s on the grill or stovetop, or in the oven, plan ahead and remove the meat from the freezer and let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Doing so ensures the steak will retain as much moisture as possible.

One more cooking tip; Allie doesn’t discuss it in her video, but I know she would agree: Don’t overcook a venison steak. Look at the finished cuts of meat in her video; they are medium-rare — perfect!

P.S. Be sure to turn up the volume for best viewing.
