Unique Wild Turkey Video: Does This Injured Gobbler Fall Out of a Roost Tree?

Sometimes a particular wild turkey finds a way to escape day after day by zigging every time a hunter zags.

Unique Wild Turkey Video: Does This Injured Gobbler Fall Out of a Roost Tree?

Spring wild turkey seasons have started in the Southeast, and I’m excited to pursue longbeards soon here in the Midwest. While waiting for opening day, I enjoy watching turkey hunting content on YouTube, and one of my favorite channels is The Hunting Public (THP).

In the 19-minute YouTube video below, Greg Clements, one of the THP hosts and co-founders, is trying to close the deal on a particularly cagey Merriam’s gobbler. All of the THP co-hosts do a good job of capturing their turkey and deer hunts on video, by Greg is my favorite. Very simply, he’s an excellent storyteller with imagery and words.

I hesitate to say too much about Greg’s video because I don’t want to spoil the various surprises. Although Greg doesn’t explain where he’s hunting, I’m 99 percent sure he’s on public land in western South Dakota (his home state). This content was held over from a 2023 spring hunt. As they often do, the THP co-hosts begin posting turkey content during late winter (from the previous spring’s hunts) and then change to current-year content once the spring seasons open in the Southeast.

FYI: THP started posting content from this year’s turkey hunts on March 11, 2024. All these new videos are part of their Turkey Tour 2024. This spring’s Turkey Tour begins with a youth turkey hunt in Mississippi. Click here to check it out.
