TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — City officials in Tuscaloosa have commissioned a study of the area's deer population following complaints from residents.
Tera Tubbs, director of the city's transportation department, tells WBRC-TV that the city will spend more than $4,000 to conduct the study next year.
Tubbs says it may be the first time the city has commissioned such a study.
Officials fear that an over-abundance of deer could lead to the animals damaging property or getting hit by cars.
The study will begin around the end of January. It could take a month to a month and a half to complete.
