No one has dominated professional bass fishing in the last handful of years like Jacob Wheeler. He won his fourth Major League Fishing Angler of the Year title in 2025 and is in a great position to win it again this year.
In the 46-second Facebook video below, Wheeler reveals his No. 1 buzzbait modification — adding a soft-plastic trailer. The buzzbait shown is from Accent Fishing Products, and after trimming its skirt, Wheeler adds a swimbait from Rapala CrushCity called The Mayor. He’ll choose the 3-inch option (shown) when bass are targeting smaller baitfish.
During summer, Wheeler retrieves the buzzbait fast; during fall when the water is colder, he’ll slow down the retrieve.
