Human Remains Found In Rubble Of Treestand Fire

MEDFORD, Wis. (AP) — Taylor County sheriff's officials say human remains have been found in the rubble of a tree stand fire.

The sheriff's department was notified about a missing person after a 52-year-old Medford man failed to meet two others to go hunting. Medford police officers and sheriff's deputies began a search for the man and found his ATV on his rural property near a wooden, elevated box-like hunting stand.

WQOW-TV says the hunting stand had recently burned. Investigators say the man used an LP heater in the stand. No foul play is suspected. The remains have not been identified.
