EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon wildlife officials have removed a cougar trap from a Eugene park even though trail cameras have shown a third cougar in the area. Two other cougars were earlier trapped and killed after recent livestock kills.
The Register-Guard reports that Fish and Wildlife Department spokeswoman Michelle Dennehy says cougars roam widely and the third cat may be far from Hendricks Park in south Eugene.
The department trapped cougars in the same location on March 12 and March 14. Both the adult female and a 6-month-old male were later killed.
Goats and chickens living near the park were being taken by cougars.
