You'd think someone attacked by a cougar wouldn't be able to continue doing whatever it was they were doing, but two Utah hunters aren't typical people.
The unidentified men were separated while bowhunting elk the morning of Aug. 17 near Kamas, Utah, when the son, 33, saw a mountain lion about 15 feet from him. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officials say the two were hunting north of a fish hatchery.
When the hunter saw the mountain lion it was crouched as if ready to pounce. He fired a shot with his bow and missed. The cougar lunged and hit the man, but the outcome wasn't as bad as it could've been.
The man sustained only minor scratches, DWR officials said, as far as it goes for visible wounds. Being attacked by a mountain lion, however, likely gave him a pretty severe case of the liver-quiver heebie jeebies.
DWR officials said the cougar probably was stalking the hunters. The man, despite the attack, declined medical attention because he wanted to continue hunting.
I can't even imagine and probably would have to return to my truck to get my extra pants to change. Right? Whew.
