Beretta’s latest release in a long line of Over/Under shotguns, the 690 blends centuries of craftsmanship and tradition with modern manufacturing techniques.
The Field III, the first iteration in the 690 line, takes its name from the quality of the wood in the stock and forend. This Grade III wood will no doubt appeal to those who appreciate the look of a field gun alongside the fit and function.
Beretta widened the receiver on the 690 and included screws on each side of the barrel to allow the ability to switch between ejectors and extractors. In addition, aluminum alloy replaces iron in the forend, which increases weight andbalance for a more comfortable shoulder mount. Modern manufacturing techniques include an upgraded trigger, Steelium barrels for added strength and durability while reducing weight, and the Optima HP choke system for consistent accuracy in the field.
According to Beretta, subsequent releases in the 690 line will include sub-gauges and sporting models, and the company is considering a Grade I model that will retail at a price point to the similar to the Silver Pigeon.
The 690 Field III comes in 12 ga with 28” barrels, and MSRP is $3,495.
