Indiana native Jacob Wheeler has been a professional bass angler since 2012, and no one has been more dominant during the last five years. He’s a four-time Major League Fishing (MLF) Angler of the Year (2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025) and has career earnings of approximately $5 million.
Wheeler recently won the prestigious MLF Redcrest Championship trophy along with a check for $300K on Table Rock Lake in southwest Missouri, and in the Facebook video below he explains the top five baits he used to catch his bass. During the event’s final-day championship round, he landed 21 bass that weighed a total of 51 pounds, 11 ounces. He was well ahead of the second-place finisher, who had 15 bass for 38 pounds, 8 ounces.
FYI: You’ll see a mix of lures designed for use with forward-facing sonar (FFS) and non-FFS electronics. During MLF tournaments, an angler’s day on the water is divided into three periods, and they can use FFS technology for only one period of their choice.
