Utah Anglers Release Too Many Fish

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State wildlife officials say Utah waters are full of fish because anglers are releasing almost everything they catch.

The Division of Wildlife Resources says 95 percent of all brown trout and 90 percent of black bass caught in Utah waters are released.

Drew Cushing with the wildlife resources division says that's crowding the waters and keeping fish from growing bigger.

The Deseret News reports wildlife officials may get rid of a limit on how many fish an angler can store at home.

That may prompt anglers to keep more of the fish they catch.
