VIDEO: Introducing the 25-45 round from Sharps

During the range day at this year's SHOT Show in Las Vegas, we had the chance to get an up close and personal look at a brand new round designed to turn your AR (or even a bolt gun) into a great all-around hunting gun for medium-sized game.

During the range day at this year's SHOT Show in Las Vegas, we had the chance to get an up close and personal look at a brand new round designed to turn your AR (or even a bolt gun) into a great all-around hunting gun for medium-sized game.

Designed by Sharps Rifle Company, the 25-45 round traces its lineage to the 257 Roberts and packs a punch in its 65 and 87 grain bullet. The round is a necked-up .223 case, so it fits standard AR-15 magazines and is compatible with any AR-15 lower. The only change needed is a barrel.

The 25-45 in 87 grain drives at about 3,000 fps at the muzzle and packs a game dropping hit out to 300 yards, designers with Sharps say, all with less than a 10 percent increase in kick.
