I’ve been bowhunting turkeys for at least 30 years, and I’ve never encountered a gobbler like the one you’ll see highlighted in the 20-minute YouTube video below. The March 27th hunt is self-filmed by Greg Clements, who is a co-host of the popular YouTube hunting channel The Hunting Public.
As Greg explains, he’s pursuing turkeys on a very special property in Nebraska. I won’t play the role of spoiler and give it all away; watch the video, I promise it’s worth your time.
If you are a frequent visitor to this website and have read some of my content in the past, then you know I’m a fan of the guys at The Hunting Public. They all do an excellent job showcasing their hunts across the country (primarily fall whitetails and spring turkeys), but Greg stands alone in terms of cinematography. After reading the many comments on YouTube, I wasn’t surprised to see I’m not alone in that opinion.
One final observation: I share Greg’s love of the discontinued Rocket Turkey Tom O Hawk three-blade, 125-grain mechanical broadhead (below), which had a cutting diameter of 2.75 inches. I have two left in my quiver, and nothing comes close to it for body-shooting a turkey. I sure wish a company would build something similar to it.
Stay tuned to the end of the video to see Greg’s nephew Camden drop a bird with his shotgun on April 13; the footage of the pellets impacting the bird is outstanding!
