In 2014, the SIG P320 was released to the world. And shortly thereafter took off in popularity among law enforcement agencies and shooters alike. The most notable aspect of the handgun that appealed to law enforcement and shooters is its modular design. The striker-fired handgun can change size, caliber and fit with the innovative interchangeable trigger group. All these changes can take place without any special tools and doesn’t require an armorer to perform them. The shooter simply removes the magazine, locks slide to rear and rotates take-down lever for disassembly.

With grip sizes available in large, medium and small, you can choose a matching slide for full size, compact or subcompact, chambered in 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W. A smooth, crisp trigger pull and short reset help make the P320 an accurate shooting handgun, too. These are a few of the solid features that have led a number of law enforcement and military divisions to adopt the P320 as their service pistol. However, SIG hasn’t stopped working to make the P320 even better. In fact, they have several specialty models designed off of the 320 that make this platform even better. Here’s three options to check out.

SIG P320 RX

The P320 RX features all the things shooters love about the gun, but comes with a slide-mounted reflex sight. Offered in full Size and compact, the RX features a ROMEO1 reflex sight mounted directly to the slide. The ROMEO1 features a molded glass aspheric lens with high-performance coatings for greater light transmittance and zero distortion. Manual illumination controls turn on your last-used-lighting intensity. Three MOA red-dot ensures rapid target engagement under a full range of lighting conditions. The readily available CR1632 battery is top-loading, allowing for quick battery replacement without having to remove the sight from the firearm. A lightweight, aircraft-grade CNC magnesium housing ensures a lifetime of reliable service. It also features waterproof (IPX-7 rated for complete immersion up to 1 meter) and fog-proof performance.

Reflex sights offer quicker target acquisition, especially with both eye open, than traditional sights. Once you get used to the reflex sight, you can aim on target much quicker and more accurate than with iron sights. Each RX handgun ships with the ROMEO1 sight mounted and zeroed by SIG. It literally is ready to shoot right out of the box. MSRP for both models is $1,040.

SIG P320 X-Five

The X-Five is a refined P320. It incorporates features that a competition shooter would be looking for in a handgun. The P320 X-Five 9mm incorporates all of the most important features to maximize accuracy, shootability and ergonomics while maintaining the modularity of the standard P320 platform. The X-Series grip module is exclusive to this line and features a deeper trigger guard undercut, a higher back strap and an extended beavertail to ensure a higher grip for better recoil management. It also comes standard with a removable grip weight for improved balance, as well as a removable magazine funnel and extended slide catch lever to facilitate faster reloads. Like all X-Series P320s, the X-Five has the straight trigger that breaks at 90 degrees for an even better feeling pull. It also features a 5-inch bull barrel and lightened slide for match-grade accuracy and is equipped with Dawson Precision Fiber Optic front and fully-adjustable rear sights. Additionally, the rear sight plate can be easily removed as a unit and replaced with a ROMEO1 optic, which means every P320 X-Five pistol is optics-ready right out of the box. Each P320 X-Five includes four 21-round steel magazines. MSRP: $1,005.

P320 X-VTAC

The dark-earth colored slide isn’t the only thing that separates the X-VTAC from other P320s. The grip features a four-sided beveled internal magwell for faster reloads. The trigger guard has a larger undercut while the back of the grip has an extended beavertail — both of which help get the shooter’s hand higher on the grip to reduce felt recoil. It features the X-series straight trigger. The slide is lightened cut and features aesthetically-appealing linear cuts on top. The dark-earth color really makes the cuts and design stand out and pop on the slide. The X-VTAC also features a 4.7-inch target-crown barrel for increased accuracy and is equipped with X-VTAC day and night sights, which feature tritium and fiber optics. The pistol comes with three 17-round magazines and is chambered in 9mm. MSRP: $918.
