What was supposed to be a week and half long hunting and fishing trip turned into a battle for life and death.
Adrian Knopps spent most of seven days with no food, shelter, or warm clothes in the wilds of Alaska. He occupied the same space as wolves and bears, struggled against a strong storm, carved his final message on his gun, but on the seventh day he heard the glorious sound of a Coast Guard helicopter.
After bagging a 800 pound grizzly, Knopps and his partner prepared the animal and loaded the meat aboard a skiff. His partner never returned, and his body was found 11 days later in an ocean canal.
Two months after being rescued by the Coast Guard, Knopps joined family members on a deer hunt in the Wisconsin woods. Not able to walk long distances and still dealing with nerve injuries didn't keep him from bagging five deer.
