The commentator uses the words “ouch town” to describe what happens in this Facebook video clip, and it’s the perfect description.

Professional bass angler John Hunter hooks a huge bass on Florida’s famed Orange Lake. Hunter is competing in Major League Fishing’s Heavy Hitters tournament. This bass almost certainly would have taken the daily big bass award, meaning Hunter would have pocketed a $10,000 bonus check. In addition, this bass would have contributed tremendously to his total catch weight for the day.

As you’ll see, Hunter literally has the bass in his right hand as he lifts it over the gunnel. (FYI: Nets are not allowed in this competition.) It’s clear that the bass touches the side of the boat, however, and the fish twists at just the right time, breaking free of Hunter’s grip.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but next time you can be sure that Hunter will take just a bit more time pulling such a big fish from the water, probably using two hands.
