Black Bear Bites Man At Campground Near Aspen

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- Wildlife officials say an adult black bear scratched its way into a tent and bit a man on his forearm at a campground on the eastern end of Ruedi Reservoir near Aspen.

The Aspen Times reported that the man, whose name has not been released, whacked the bear with his free arm to scare it off and was treated at a nearby hospital for two puncture wounds. The man had been sleeping with his wife and 1-year-old baby when the bear attacked.

Wildlife officers set a trap for the bear, which will be killed if it is captured.

According to a report by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the camping family left food and trash at their campsite.
