ATA 2019 Arrow Rests: 12 Picks for Accuracy and Dependability

Even with the best bow on the planet, you can’t expect outstanding accuracy if your arrow rest is lacking. Here are a dozen topnotch rests discovered by the author during ATA 2019.

ATA 2019 Arrow Rests: 12 Picks for Accuracy and Dependability

Frequent visitors of this website might have seen two previous articles that highlighted some of the top bowhunting products I saw during my 3-day visit to Louisville for the 2019 Archery Trade Association (ATA) Show. Click here for 10 crossbows that caught my eye, and here for a discussion about 11 great broadhead offerings.

Below are 12 topnotch arrow rests to consider if you’re in the market for a new model. While each one is different, they all share a single trait: When set up correctly, these rests are dependable and capable of outstanding accuracy. Whether you hit the bull’s-eye — or both lungs — is still up to you.

Note: Prices shown below are taken from manufacturers’ websites; street prices will often be slightly lower. I cover a wide variety of rests —  from $25 to $250 — to ensure any bowhunter will find something he or she can afford.

AAE Prophecy ($199.99)

Built on AAE's proven Pro-Series frame, the new full-capture, fall-away Prophecy rest has vertical and horizontal micro-adjustment for simple set up. The company’s proprietary trigger mechanism features a nano-second delay, which enables the launcher to stay up longer while maintaining maximum vane clearance. The flexible launcher is unbreakable, and the rest has a field-replaceable activation cord.

Apex Gear Attitude ($70.99)

If vane clearance has been a problem for you in the past, then check out the Attitude drop-away rest from Apex Gear. This full-containment rest has a high-speed, stainless-steel launcher arm. The Attitude comes with five quick-change polymer inserts (different colors) so you don’t have to mess with felt, and arrows are easy to load through the rest’s side cutout.

G5 C-MAX ($134.99)

There’s a lot to love about the G5 C-MAX drop-away rest. For starters, it offers 360 degrees of arrow containment. It also isn’t fussy about vane orientation. Hunters can raise the launcher arm by pushing a button or simply drawing the bow string. The C-MAX has a durable metal frame yet weighs only 2.7 ounces. This arrow rest isn’t new for G5, but it’s a proven performer.

HHA Virtus ($129.99)

The HHA Virtus is a full-containment, fall-away rest that is easy to install. After the cord is tied to the downward cable, adjustments are made by loosening a single bolt on the rest’s Gator Grip Clamp. Other features include: noise-reducing, lazer-cult felt on the launcher; centrally located thumb lever for cocking the Virtus; and patented latch-and-brake system for smooth, reliable performance.

Hamskea Trinity Hunter Pro ($219.99)

The Hamskea Trinity Hunter features a new Delta V arrow holder that keeps your arrow in place while drawing, as well as three oversized stainless-steel ball bearings for smooth activation. Hunters will appreciate the new Easy Glide cord tensioner, too, which allows you to make in-the-field tension adjustments to the activation cord without Allen wrenches.

QAD UltraRest Integrate MX ($249.99)

Perhaps no other arrow rest drew more attention at ATA 2019 than the QAD UltraRest Integrate MX. Click here to see a full review of the rest by Bowhunting World Editor-in-Chief Jace Bauserman. The reason for the buzz is QAD worked with Mathews to introduce the Integrate MX, which features a dovetail mounting system specifically for Mathews bows. In other words, the use of the Berger hole is no longer needed. The design is innovative, and it works.

Ripcord LOK ($229.95)

The limb-driven Ripcord LOK fall-away rest allows bowhunters to pre-cock the launcher by pushing a button, resulting in full containment of the arrow. The click micro-adjust feature provides precise movements; each click moves the rest .003 inches. An inline cord clamp makes it easy to set cord tension, and a double ball bearing drive ensures smooth operation.

Schaffer Archery XV ($149)

I had the pleasure of using a Schaffer Archery XV rest on a Mathews TRIAX during the 2018 deer season. Confession: I was late to the full-containment arrow rest party, but the XV rest made me a believer. The arrow can’t move or make any noise when the XV is locked, and the bow can be drawn whether the rest is in the closed (locked) or open position. The two pillars glide out of the way upon release; it’s been tested with rigs shooting 418 fps.

Trophy Ridge Sync MD ($99.99)

This new-for-2019 full-containment arrow rest provides micro adjustability for both windage and elevation, which makes for precise tuning. The launcher of the Trophy Ridge Sync MD drops away at the shot for full vane clearance, and the cable drive cord system results in a smooth and reliable draw cycle.

Trophy Taker SD LockUp ($129.99)

This full-containment rest stays up as you draw and will remain up even if you let down on the draw. The Trophy Taker SD LockUp won’t drop until you release an arrow. It features integrated roller bearings for smooth mechanics, and the full over-molded containment ring has a built-in sound dampening system. Trophy Taker built a name for itself among western spot-and-stalk bowhunters (the company began in Montana), and the SD LockUp should continue this legacy.

TruGlo EZ-Rest ($24.99)

If you’re one of the “keep it simple” crowd when it comes to bowhunting gear, then the TruGlo EZ-Rest was made for you. As the photo shows, brushes provide the arrow support, and once you’ve loaded an arrow, it can’t slip out of the full-containment rest while still-hunting or stalking an animal. Installation and tuning is simple, too.

Vapor Trail Gen 7 ($159.99)

Because the Vapor Trail Gen 7 is a dealer-only rest, don’t expect to find it at your local box store. It comes with one of three mounting brackets: Hoyt, Mathews or Standard. This side-loading full-capture rest uses the company’s proven limb-driven system. Brand-specific versions of this fully machined aluminum rest weigh only 2.5 ounces; the standard model weighs 2.9 ounces. I used an all-black Gen 7 rest on a Prime Logic bow during 2018 and it was quiet, dependable and provided outstanding accuracy.
