LANSING, Mich. (AP) — State officials and Consumers Energy are challenging Michigan hunters to go after waterfowl in seven Lower Peninsula locations.
They're called Michigan's Wetland Wonders and are the seven Managed Waterfowl Hunt Areas. The Wetland Wonders can be found in Allegan, Bay, Muskegon, Saginaw, St. Clair and Tuscola counties as well as the Pointe Mouillee State Game Area in Monroe and Wayne counties.
The areas were created in the 1960s to provide waterfowl hunting opportunities.
The Consumers Energy-sponsored Wetland Wonders Challenge continues through Jan. 31. Participants need to hunt at three of the sites and submit a punch-card entry form.
Seven winners will be chosen to win waterfowl hunting prize packages valued at $1,000.
