MORGAN, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says a Morgan man has been sentenced to 120 days in prison for deer poaching.
Douglas Vezina was charged with shooting two young bucks without a license during the 2013 deer rifle season after the department received a tip.
A legal deer must be a buck with two or more antler points on one side.
Vezina pleaded guilty on Wednesday to two counts of taking a deer out of season and one count of hunting without a license.
The department says another man, Terrance Grondin, also of Morgan, was charged with helping Vezina transport and process the deer, and possessing deer meat taken in violation of the law. Grondin pleaded guilty and was fined $400.
