OSAGE, Iowa (AP) — Students at Osage Middle School were surprised, but not hurt, when a deer came crashing through their classroom window.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the incident happened Thursday afternoon.
Superintendent Steve Bass says school staff members who first spotted the deer outside believe the animal was spooked by the sounds of both a train horn and semitrailer horn.
The deer smashed through the closed window and into a special needs classroom. The two students inside were able to exit the room unhurt.
Responding police officers were able to hold the deer down, tie its legs, carry it outside and let it go.
