ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Police and fire officials in Anchorage say bear spray was discharged Friday evening at a downtown mall, causing shoppers and workers to head for the exits.
KTUU-TV reports that hazmat crews were called shortly before 8 p.m. to the 5th Avenue Mall.
Anchorage police say people reported reactions to the powerful spray but no serious injuries were reported.
KTUU says mall officials say the mall shut down an hour early but suffered no serious damage.
The source of the bear spray wasn't immediately known.
