ST. CLOUD, Fla. (AP) — Officials say two people in Florida have been injured in separate alligator attacks.
A trapper was sent Thursday to Lake Toho in central Florida to hunt a gator that bit a 9-year-old boy several times.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that the boy's injuries weren't considered life-threatening, but he was taken to a hospital for treatment given his age. Witnesses say the boy was swimming in the Osceola County lake Thursday when the gator attacked him in his upper torso.
Also Thursday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that a woman was canoeing in the Hillsborough River in North Tampa when an alligator attacked her. She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
