A Tip for Weaver Tip-Off Scope Mounts

Weaver Tip-Off ringscan scar a scope as they’re snapped over it. A slip of paper under the ring lip as you nudge it over the tube protects its finish. Remove the paper before installing ring screws. Tip-Off rings are pulled down by screws on one side after hooking the side opposite. Tightening these screws typically rotates the scope slightly. To counter that spin, first give the tube a slight twist in the opposite direction. Check that the reticle winds up plumb. Before snugging any rings, ensure there’s at least .125-inch “clear tube” either side of the rings to keep them from pinching lenses and adjustment mechanisms.
