Even though trips to the White House are less common today for world champion professional athletes, it’s good to see that one state still places some importance on such events for high schoolers. Let me explain.

The Castle High School Knights archery team is dominant in Indiana. In fact, The team has won first place 11 times in the 12-year history of the program. The Knights were recently recognized on the respective floors of the Indiana House of Representatives and Senate for winning the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) titles of state, national and world champion during 2018.

Resolutions in honor of the Knights were read by Rep. Ron Bacon (R-Chandler, District 75) and Sen. Vaneta Becker (R-Evansville, District 50), both of whom represent Castle’s area.

The Knights went undefeated in 12 regular-season matches and then won the bullseye division at the state NASP championship. Next, they won the Eastern National Tournament. At that event, 24 of the Castle archers each won a $1,000 scholarship as a result of their efforts.

Finally, the Knights carried their win at NASP Nationals to the 2018 NASP World Tournament, winning the title of world champion. Congrats to all the archers from Castle High School!
