Get on the list for your TrackingPoint AR

TrackingPoint, which makes what might be the world’s most technically advanced long-range rifle system, announced in February it would be taking pre-orders of its new AR-style rifle platform and its 750 series of bolt guns.

The Austin, Texas-based company made waves in the gun world last year when it paired a sophisticated digital sight with a custom-built .338 Lapua Magnum rifle. The sight takes out most of the guesswork for a shot at extended distances and literally takes control of the trigger to make the hit.

Just before the 2014 SHOT Show, TrackingPoint announced it would build an AR variant of the system, offering the same kind of precision in either .300 BLK, 7.62mm or 5.56mm. The TP-AR 300, TP-AR 556 and TP-AR 762 will be good for ranges out to 750 yards, but will also offer a “free-fire mode” so shooters can use their own trigger pull for the shot, the company says.

For bolt-gun gurus, the company is also offering the TP-750 in .300 WinMag, .308 Winchester and 7mm.

Both types of rifles will retail for $9,995, and TrackingPoint says ship dates should start in October.
