I’ve highlighted various archery trick shots from James Jean on this website before. For example, click here to see his most dangerous trick shot called the Incoming Rob Hood. It’s the definition of “don’t try this at home!”
Not only is James the best archery trick shot artist of all time (my opinion), but he’s also a good teacher. In the 12-second YouTube clip below, you’ll see his son “Lil Jamison” attempting to curve an arrow around a barrier on its way to punching a balloon.
By using recurve bows, James and his son can deliberately induce arrow fishtailing by torquing the bow (forcing the bow to twist), adjusting the nocking point (either too high or too low), modifying arrow fletching, using arrows with the wrong spine (too stiff or too light), and using low draw weight and partial draws. Of course, it takes an incredible amount of practice to learn how an arrow will react in flight with all of these variables.
As you’ll see, James is pleased with his son’s performance on this specific trick, which should tell you something about its degree of difficulty.
