Connecticut announces opening days for hunting season

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut officials have announced the opening days of the fall hunting seasons.

The waterfowl season opens statewide on Wednesday and the small game hunting season opens Oct. 19 for pheasant, bobwhite quail and cottontail rabbit. Turkey shooting season began last Saturday and runs through the end of the month.

Small game hunting will be available in most state forests and wildlife management areas as well as areas established under a permit hunting program.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says daily permits for some areas will be available online for the first time this year.
