Volunteers Needed To Assess Mule Deer Mortality Rates

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wildlife officials are looking for volunteers to help assess deer mortality rates by counting carcasses in western Wyoming.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department surveys will cover the Wyoming Range and Uinta mule deer herds and will determine which age class was hit the hardest during the winter.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports the Cokeville area survey will begin May 3, and the Leroy survey will begin May 10. They will be done on foot or horseback.
