MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont game wardens are asking for help from the public in catching poachers and people committing other violations of the state's hunting laws.
Some of the things that Vermonters are being urged to watch out for include people shining headlights or spotlights into woods and fields after dark, or driving vehicles or ATVs in fields after dark. Anyone who hears gunshots after dark should call them in immediately.
The plea from the game wardens comes just over a week before the state's November rifle deer hunting season, due to open on Nov. 16.
Game Warden Major Dennis Reinhardt says poaching typically increases in November as deer hunting season approaches.
