Mule Deer Poached RREDIT Idaho Fishand Game 181003 155949

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A mule deer that grew to trophy proportions because it lived inside Twin Falls city limits where hunting is illegal and became something of a celebrity has been poached.

The Times-News reports in a story on Thursday that the resulting outrage has led to a $2,800 reward for information.

Residents say the mule deer buck with heavy, wide and tall antlers lived in Rock Creek Canyon between the Amalgamated Sugar factory and Snake River Canyon.

Idaho Fish and Game officials say the deer was killed within city limits on Jan. 26 or Jan. 27. Portions of the meat were taken as were the head and anglers.

Washington Street Pawn is contributing $1,000 toward the reward. Manager Forrest Andersen says the deer was the kind seen in hunting magazines.
