NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia township is the latest community to repeal gun ordinances in an effort to avoid being sued under a new Pennsylvania law.

The Times Herald reports East Norriton supervisors voted Tuesday to repeal laws allowing hunting in the township and regulating firearms in parks and other recreation areas.

A state law passed last year gives the National Rifle Association and similar groups the ability to challenge illegal gun laws.

Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg and other cities have already been sued under the law.

East Norriton's hunting ordinance passed in the 1960s. Its parks and recreation regulations were passed in the 1980s.

The township of 13,500 residents is about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
