Arkansas Commission Sets Deer Hunting Dates

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) —The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has approved the dates for this fall's deer hunting season.

Archeryseason opens Sept. 27, muzzleloader season opens Oct. 18 and modern gun season opens Nov. 8.

Archeryseason ends Feb. 28, 2015, while muzzleloader season ends in December.

Most zones for modern gun season will end in November, though a few extend into December. The statewide Christmas holiday modern gun deer hunt is Dec. 26-28.

The commission also approved the harvest of feral hogs only during bear, deer and elk firearms seasons in certain wildlife management areas. The commission says the regulation allows the taking of nuisance feral hogs on property controlled by Game and Fish. It does not permit widespread recreational hunting of feral hogs.
