COVINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Two men face fish and wildlife violations and a felony charge for allegedly shooting at a deer decoy and leading Indiana conservation officers on a pursuit that crossed into Illinois.

Cpl. Blaine R. Gillan says a pickup truck pulled up Saturday night near a deer decoy officers had erected along a rural road in western Indiana's Fountain County and single gunshot rang out.

The truck's driver led pursuing conservation officers into adjacent Illinois before returning to Indiana, where the truck was pulled over.

Charles D. Hayes II of Danville, Ill., and Brandon L. Gates of Perrysville, Ind., face multiple fish and wildlife violations and a felony charge of fleeing in a motor vehicle. The men, both 21, were taken to the Fountain County Jail, where Gates remained jailed Sunday night.
