In the 1.5-minute Facebook video below, Ben Rising (above) shows you what he calls the ultimate whitetail pinch (funnel). Ben is well known in the whitetail world. He’s a host of Whitetail Edge TV with numerous giant bucks to his credit, including three bucks over 213 inches and nine from 173-194 inches with his bow. Click here to learn more about him.

Ben is a full-time logger and timber buyer for Tusco Forestry and Hardwoods in Sugarcreek, Ohio, which is why he’s walking the property shown in this video. As he hikes, he points out the terrain features that make this funnel the perfect place to encounter a mature buck, not only during the rut, but also when whitetails are moving between bedding and feeding.

What makes this spot so good is you could set up on either side of the 20-yard-wide pinch-point, allowing you to play various winds and have a close-range shot. Set up along the field edge when the wind will blow your scent out into the field, or set up close to the creek when the wind will blow your scent over the water. In either case, bucks traveling between the field and the creek won’t smell you.

Ben does an excellent job showing you why the funnel sets up so well. Perhaps there’s a spot on your property that offers something similar?
