The bolt-action AXIS ($375) from Savage Arms has been redesigned with improved ergonomics and accuracy in mind. The new AXIS features thread-in headspacing, button rifling and a floating bolt head. With a carbon-steel sporter barrel and black synthetic stock, the redesigned AXIS weighs 6.3 pounds (compact version weighs 6.25 pounds). It has a four-round detachable box magazine.

The full-size Savage AXIS is available in nine popular cartridges, including 243 Win., 270 Win., 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Available in left and right hand, in either full-size or compact versions, the AXIS is offered in nine popular hunting calibers to make it easy for anyone to find one they like. Compact versions have 12.75-inch length of pull and 20-inch barrels. Full-size versions have 13.75-inch length of pull and 22-inch barrels.
