Shooters of any experience level can benefit from working on the mechanics of shooting a bow. Whether it’s a new archer learning for the first time or an experienced archer needing a refresher on proper form, the Centec and Centec NXT from Quest Bowhunting, by G5 Outdoors, is worth checking out.
The Centec and youth-model Centec NXT were designed with center grip technology and come standard with removeable and exclusive “grip assist.” Developed by G5 engineers, this technology promotes proper grip, shot after shot, resulting in consistent shooting form. According to Tim Checkeroski of G5 Outdoors, “We wanted to produce a bow that simplified accurate shooting, while assisting users with proper grip and other form-related mechanics.”
The Centec is a 32-inch axle-to-axle bow with a 6.25-inch brace height and mass weight of 3.9 pounds. The draw length is adjustable from 24.5 inches to 30 inches in half-inch increments with two draw weights available, 40 to 55 pounds or 55 to 70 pounds. The Centec shoots 335 fps and is available with black limbs and a choice of four riser color options: Ghost Green, Recon Gray, Realtree Edge and Sub-Alpine. The Centec can be purchased as a bare bow (MSRP: $499.95) or in a Designed to Hunt package (MSRP: $579.95) that includes peep sight, four-pin micro adjust sight, Whisker Biscuit style rest, Head-Loc six-arrow quiver, wrist sling and stabilizer.
The Centec NXT (below) is designed for youth archers. It measures 26 inches axle-to-axle with a 6-inch brace height and weighs 2.8 pounds. The draw length is adjustable from 19 inches to 26 inches in half-inch increments with a draw weight of 15 to 45 pounds. The Centec NXT shoots 270 fps and is available in the same color options as the Centec. The Centec NXT can be purchased as a bare bow (MSRP: $379.95) or in a Designed to Hunt package (MSRP: $459.95) that includes peep sight, four-pin micro adjust sight, Whisker Biscuit style rest and Head-Loc four-arrow quiver.
Note: The QuestBowhunting.com website hasn’t been updated yet with these new-for-2019 Centec bows, but both models should be available soon.
