Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a thief walks out of retail store with a crossbow hidden in his sweatpants.

Theft is an issue for any retailer. That said, most archery shop owners are certainly more concerned with losing smaller items such as releases, sights and short stabilizers than they are with larger items like compounds and crossbows.

In the news video below, you’ll see Darren Durrant as he steals from a True Value hardware store in Mims, Florida. Surveillance video first captured him taking a cutting plier off the shelf and using it to cut the zip ties off a Ravin crossbow, then in a second video (below) he stuffs the compact crossbow into his sweatpants and leaves the store without being caught.

It’s clear from watching the video that Durrant doesn’t need a crutch for walking; he knows it will help “sell” the limp he’ll obviously have after sliding a crossbow in this sweatpants. His full-zip jacket also helps conceal the bow.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey wrote on Facebook: “Just when you think you’ve seen it all, this guy takes carrying a concealed weapon to a whole new level.”
