Most experienced deer hunters understand how whitetails are able to survive harsh winters. That said, not everyone has an extensive knowledge of the species, and for that reason I’m highlighting this 2-minute Facebook video from the National Deer Association.
Matt Ross is the NDA’s senior director of conservation, and he’s been with the organization since 2006. In the video, Ross explains the physical attributes of whitetails that allow them to combat brutally cold conditions; he also explains a deer’s behavioral changes when faced with a long winter, especially one with deep snow.
