WATERTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Crows are coming back to Watertown for the winter, and officials in the northern New York city are not happy.
The Watertown Daily Times reports that as many as 30,000 crows roost in the city when the weather gets cold. The birds typically stay through February.
A worker at the Jefferson County Historical Society museum has already had to hose crow droppings off of sidewalks.
The Watertown City Council on Monday night will be asked to approve a $4,740 contract with a wildlife management company to fend off the crows. Last season, crows were chased away with remote-controlled aircraft, distress calls, pyrotechnics and hand-held lasers.
