Still looking for some hot new products to complete your 2011 bowhunting arsenal? Bowhunting World Managing Editor Mark Melotik found plenty, as one of the attendees of the recent 5th Annual Bowhunting Writers’ Roundtable, held May 23-26 in Barry, Illinois. More than 35 industry gear manufacturers showed off their latest products, to a gathering over 30 writers and publishers representing leading outdoor publications.
The event kicked off with an entertaining “Top Shot” shooting competition involving noted bowmakers Hoyt, TenPoint and Wicked Ridge Crossbows—which for many attendees resulted in a newfound appreciation for the capabilities of crossbows. History Channel’s Top Shot finalist Joe Serafini was on hand to demonstrate the course of fire that was not only challenging, but very entertaining. Toby Shaw walked away with $750 in cash and prizes and now holds the title of “Top Shot.”
Organizers Mark Sidelinger and Kim Cahalan of Media Direct thanked all who attended to make the event a success, despite the threat of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.
“I feel it is important that our industry and its passion for the sport network together in order to keep a pulse on trends, economics, and the climate of affairs,” Sidelinger said. “This event embraces those opportunities.”
