RAHWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Firefighters rescued a deer from a tank at a water treatment plant in New Jersey.
Officials believe the deer slipped under a security fence and landed in the tank at the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority.
Battalion Fire Chief Michael Roberts tells the Home News Tribune the deer was initially swimming in the 9-foot-deep inner tank before it made its way to the shallow outer trough area.
Roberts says 12 firefighters harnessed the deer and lifted it out of the tank.
Firefighters rubbed the deer to restore circulation before releasing it back into the woods.
