Red Fox Stolen Submittedto Canton Rep 181003 155254

CANTON, Ohio (AP) — A red fox has been stolen from an Ohio wildlife conservation center.

Staff at the Stark County Park District's conservation center in Canton found that someone used wire cutters to snip a section of the fox's cage and stole the animal Friday.

Park officials tell The Repository that the 10-week-old fox named Copper came to the wildlife center when a woman reported that he walked up to her while she was in her garage, indicating he was accustomed to humans.

Park officials say they're worried for Copper's safety because he hasn't learned to hunt for food or fend for himself in the wild.

Park officials had been planning to take Copper on various outings with park officials for an educational outreach program.
