BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — In a split vote, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission has elected to change the dates for the 2015-16 duck season from those proposed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The Advocate reports normally the season in the state's Coastal Zone opens the second Saturday of November. This year, that would have been Nov. 14. But three commissioners backed a proposal to move the opener up a week to Nov. 7, which will cost hunters a week at the end of January.

The full duck season in the Coastal Zone will be Nov. 7-Dec. 6 and Dec. 19-Jan. 17.

The full season in the West Zone is Nov. 14-Dec. 6 and Dec. 19-Jan. 17, while the East Zone begins Nov. 21-Dec. 6 and Dec. 19-Jan. 31.

The entire state will be closed to duck hunting Dec. 7-18.

The daily bag limit on ducks is six, and may include no more than four mallards (no more than two of which may be females), two canvasbacks, one mottled duck, one black duck, three wood ducks, three scaup, two redheads and two pintails.
