SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) — Police in South Windsor are warning residents about coyote sightings and say pets should be protected from possible attacks.

WFSB-TV reports that coyotes have been seen on three streets in the town and near some homes close to power lines and the Connecticut River. There also have been reports of coyotes stalking deer.

Police say there haven't been any recent reports of pets being attacked by coyotes, but residents should bring in pet food and bird seed and secure their trash cans. They also suggest using motion sensors and wind chimes to help chase off the animals.
