The state is attributing a large drop in the number of deer bagged by Ohio hunters to the effect of liberal bag limits in past years meant to bring down the number of deer.
As many as 500 shooters will invade Benton's Cypress-Black Bayou Park and Recreation Area in February when the Region's Archery Bayou Shootout hits northern Bossier Parish.
According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the numbers reflect the stability of the state's deer population. In the 2012-13 seasons, hunters harvested more than 176,600 deer.
