SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A determined bear tried to crash a family's camping trip in the Book Cliffs area this weekend.
Sami Graham tells KSL-TV that she and her children were inside their trailer Saturday night when the bear began rocking the trailer and scratching at the door.
Graham and her children made noise hoping to scare the animal off but the bear persisted for two hours.
Graham's husband, who had been away, returned to the trailer and fired a pistol in the air. The shot scared the animal away.
Dax Mangus with the state Division of Wildlife Resources says it's the fourth bear incident in the Book Cliffs area this summer.
